Carbohydrate Counting – A Sun Health dietitian explores the basics of carbohydrate counting to help you make wise choices in meal planning and diabetes management.

Live Well with Diabetes – Sun Health registered dietitians, nurses and fitness specialists present this comprehensive, four-part program for newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetics or individuals with limited diabetes education. The interactive, series encourages self management and eases fear, denial or other roadblocks to learning and health. Participants learn self-glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, effective stress management and easy ways to increase physical activity. Class materials that will be provided include a diabetes workbook, food planner, and pedometer. Fee: $100.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. The Area Agency on Aging partners with Social Service agencies in Maricopa County that assist grandparents and other kin caregivers (including aunts and uncles) with legal, financial, and parenting issues. Support groups are also offered by caring professionals.
